Rednecks Have Run America For Far Too Long!!

(NOTE:  This was written before Barack Obama became president.  See Update below)

The pollsters and pundits have “discovered” a class of people living in America that will never vote for Barack Obama. These Clinton voters are described as “white, low-income, rural, and poorly educated.” There is a simple term for such people – REDNECKS. This article exposes their blatant racism, male chauvinism, and other forms of backward thinking. They have been the guerrilla fighters of the culture wars on the side of the right wing fundamentalists.

Best advice to Obama is to ignore them – as we all should. They are a useless vestage of a past filled with hatred and fear. It has become “campy” to laugh at jokes about “You might be a redneck if.” So keep reading to LOL about the rednecks that are stuck in the mud and the past. It is time for the hippies to take back control of our culture and world from the rednecks – before it is too late!!  Be sure to read:  Your Vice President Might be a Redneck If: This exposes the real rednecks in Sarah Palin’s family and entourage. My Research Shows that Food Creates Both Comfort and Confusion

Dr Tom at Chicago Water TowerIn this column I present myself as a lifelong scholar of and advocate of farming and food. My graduate research during the 1980s focused on ways to encourage farmers to take better care of their soil and water resources. My professor job at NC State University focused on the social and environmental impacts of farming and food production. You can read all about that in the first part.  Then read a new column I just wrote that ties together food, spirituality and the hippies.  I also include some cool pix and quotes. In addition, read the review I wrote of the fine film “The Future of Food,” by Deborah Koons-Garcia.

To start with I invite you to read how my views on the subject of food biotechnology (a.k.a., GMOs) has changed over the past decade. These changes in attitudes about my profession ran along with some major transformations I have also made in my personal, political, and philosophical lives!!  I have spent over 30 years studying and working to change the food production and distribution system to become more sustainable and successful.  Americans do enjoy an unbelievably cheap and abundant food supply – that has been under serious threat since the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s and Chemical Revolution of the 1950’s.

Wise Women Will Rebalance Wounded World

I have written this article to inform, inspire and invigorate women everywhere (and hopefully some of the hipper men. As a lifelong supporter of women’s rights I am excited in all the ways that young women have leapfrogged young men in school, work, and the social sphere. Men now need women more than women need men. As a man I understand and appreciate that there are things that we can do better than women. However, our future depends on re-balancing the male-dominated drive with women’s harmonious approach to life. As always I have included some prime selected pix and quotes that I collected from across the Internet. Hope you like the pix since all were embellished with PhotoShop. Continue reading

Cats Are Creative, Cool and Compassionate

Spring is the best time to pay tribute to my true friends through thick and thin – my cats. Just as people feel passionately about their kids, dogs and other companions, many of us also love our cats. They are smarter and cleaner than dogs. They can be alone for extended periods – but cats do not like to be alone. Above all they model the peaceful, Zen lifestyle that I and many others are trying to achieve. Read this post to understand the many benefits of cat ownership. This features many of the best quotes ever on our furry friends. Also, learn why cats make the perfect therapy animals for the elderly, young people and anyone who would prefer minimal responsibility for maximum cat-love. Continue reading
